Charlotte N.C. UFO Sighting
On January 23, 2007 residents of Charlotte NC., observed what they later reported to be an unidentified object with bright lights in the sky. The reported calls came into Iredell, Lincoln, Mooresville and Huntersville emergency dispatchers around 8 p.m. Among these calls of reports were a police dispatcher’s dad and even a Lincoln County officer.
It hovered above them with a blueish green hue glowing around it. Some reporters originally thought it could be a plane in trouble, but many described it as a “fire in the sky” that moved too slowly to be an airplane.

The National Weather Service’s office in Greer, South Carolina received similar calls around the same time in their area. However, areas in between the two areas had no reports.
The Federal Aviation Administration had no reports of plane crashes. Local officers who were dispatched to investigate found no plane crashes or signs of the UFO.
Daniel Caton, observatory director and astronomy professor at Appalachian State University in Boone believes it was a very bright meteor.
Many witnesses say the light appeared to fizzle at the end and break into pieces, making it a special kind of fireball called a bolide. In the universe of meteors, they’re A-List entertainers, known for their splashy finales.
